Popular star Kalabhavan Mani will appear as the literary character Uthuppan in the new movie. He will be donning the title character in the movie ‘Uthappante Kinar’ based on the famous novel in the same name written by Karoor Neelapkanta Pillai. Young star Vinoo Mohan will also come up in an important role in this movie which will feature Indrans, Shruthi, Poojappura Ravi, Jagannathan, Kanakalatha and Kochupreman in important roles.

Directed by famous critic Vijayakrishnan after ‘Dalamarmarangal’, this movie will be scripted by the director. The songs which is also written by Vijayakrishnan will be sung by MG Sreekumar, Madhu Balakrishnan and K S Chithra.

Famous movie critic and director Vijayakrishnan will script and film this story. Vinu Mohan, Sruthi, Indrans, Kochupreman, Poojappura Ravi, Jagannathan and Kanakalatha will also be a part of the supporting cast. While debutant M G Anil will debut as a music director through the movie, R Rajesh will produce ‘Uthappante Kinar’ under the banner of Karthik films.

In the current year, Mani had been into some serious roles in films like ‘Yugapurushan’ which bagged him critical acclaim.

Critic Sukumar Azhikode has urged the State Government to conduct a public inquiry into the activities of AMMA.

Azhikode also said Mohanlal misused his Colonel status in the Territorial Army by posing in uniform for commercial advertisements of Malabar Gold. He also criticized the decision of Sree Sankara University of Sanskrit, Kalady, to confer the Doctorate on Mohanlal calling it unwarranted.

Hindi actor Rajit Kapoor has replaced Thilakan in the international project ‘Dam 999′ directed by Sohan Roy. Rajath has already started shooting for the movie, which tells about the lives of nine persons living in the premises of a Dam, during British India.

Meanwhile, director Sohan Roy has personally intimated Thilakan who is staying in the hotel with the crew, about the replacement. But Thilakan who asks for the compensation also demanded the reasons for his removal from the movie in written form. ”I just want to make this incident a part of Mollywood movie history and that is why I am insisting for a written statement and compensation” said Thilakan.

The director Sohan Roy has said ”it was a very sad decision from their part which was forced upon us by the Malayalam film industry associations. Anyhow we have decided to pay the hotel rent of the actor, for any number of days he wants to stay with the crew”.

In 2009, we saw a number of new faces debuting in variety of roles. Kailash and Archana Kavi who were noticed with ‘Neelathamara’ and Nishan, Asif Ali and Reema Kallingal who debuted with ‘Rithu’ have made a good start in 2010. Reema Kallingal has already proved herself with plenty of films. In 2010, she has already started well with the big hit ‘Happy Husbands’.

Archana Kavi has already completed her second movie ‘Mummy And Me’ and is already booked for a number of small movies. Kailash, had a slow start, but will be seen in a number of big films in 2010 including ‘Shikaar” in which he will share the lead with Mohanlal. ‘Best Of Luck’ directed by MA Nishad, will also have him donning the lead along with Prabhu and Urvashi. Kailash will also be in the next movie of Anil C Menon scripted by K Gireesh Kumar. Nishan and Asif, the heroes of ‘Rithu’ too will have a good year in 2010 with both donning the lead in a number of films including ‘Apporva Ragangal’ by Sibi Malayil.

Nithya Menon and Dhanya Mary Varghese will be the other names to look forward this year. With such good offers and projects in 2010, there is a chance for Mollywood viewers to have another crowd pulling young stars emerging in the present year.

The film was announced here by its director Major Ravi Sunday. Bachchan, who arrived here to participate in the News Maker of the Year programme of Manorama News, met Mohanlal and held discussions on the proposed film to reach an agreement.

This will be the first Bachchan film in Malayalam. The megastar of Indian film had expressed his desire to act in a Malayalam film in an interview with Manorama News in Dubai in the first week of December.

South Indian actress Navya Nair tied the knot with Santhosh Menon in Alappuzha in Kerala yesterday (January 21). Navya’s wedding saw many film personalities including Cheran and many other Malayalam actors and actresses.

Navya and Sathosh’s wedding was decided a couple of months ago and it is an arranged marriage. Santhosh is currently based in Mumbai.

Mammootty has a God man like look for his new film Drona directed by Shaji Kailas and produced by Aroma Movies.

The shoot of the film has started from November 2 at Varikkaseri Mana, the popular location of Malayalam films near Ottapalam.

In the film, Mammootty plays a Nostradamus like character Pattazhi Madhavan Namboodiri alias Drona. He looks like a Sanyasi wears saffron clothes, Rudrakshamala, jet black long hair and Vibhooti on his forehead.

Bala, Vijayakumar and Irshad play his supporters in this crime thriller with three heroines Kaniha, Navya Nair and Shwetha Vijay are the three heroines in the film which also has Manoj K Jayan, Sai Kumar, Sooraj Venjaranmoodu in the supporting cast.

The film’s story and screenplay is by AK Sajan, Kaithapuram’s lyrics are tuned by Deepak Dev. Ace cameraman Ekambaram of Kanthaswamy fame is the cinematographer while Don Max is the editor.

Shaji Kailas- Mammootty team has reeled out hit after hits in the 90’s. It is after a decade that both are coming together in after the 1999 Valiyettan. Drona will be releasing in March 2010.

സംഗീത മാന്ത്രികന്‍ എ.ആര്‍ റഹ്മാന്‍ ഓസ്കാറില്‍ ഇരട്ട നേട്ടം കൈവരിച്ചതും മലയാളികള്‍ ആഹ്ലാദിച്ചു.
